Arquilla Abney passed peacefully from this life the morning of July 8th after a gradual decline in health in the presence of his home. He was loved and respected by so many friends, neighbors, coworkers, and especially, his family. He was our rock and impacted our lives in so many positive ways. We will forever have a life long void in our hearts. He will truly be missed.
Arquilla was born July 12, 1942, to Mildred and Arquilla Abney, Sr. who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were siblings, Beverly Colston, Juanita Penn, Beulah Mae Samuel, and John Sly Abney.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of fifty-two years, Betty Abney; one son, Darren (Veronica) Abney; two daughters, Tammy (Jimmy) Wiggins and Keshia (Kelvin) Roberts; six grandchildren, one whom he raised as his own, Antonio Abney; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary (O'Neal) Spencer, Edna (William)Richardson, Mildred Bettis, and Pearline Green; one brother, Broadus (Mamie) Abney; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
