Mattie J. Mills

 Mattie Josephine (English) Mills, ​79 of Georgia formally of Chicago passed away Monday, August 6,2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 15, 1938 in Frisco City, AL., to the late Prince Thames and Ida Bell Anderson.

She had a very vibrant upbeat personality never met a stranger. Mattie loved sewing and cooking and gardening. Her family was a priority and always embraced with love. Mattie's earthly presence will be truly missed. 

Mattie graduated from Union High School in Monroeville, AL., and attended Alabama State University. She then moved to Chicago where she met Curtis English Jr. They were married for over 33 years, he preceded her in death. Mattie was also preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. She was employed by Rush University Medical Center for many years. Mattie then moved to Boston, MA. and reconnected with her longtime friend Arnold Mills, they married in 1990. He preceded her in death.

Mattie leaves to cherish her precious memories one son: Carl English of Chicago, one daughter, Christi (Ricky) English-Rivers of Georgia two brothers: Dave Anderson Jr. and Prince Thames Jr. both of AL., five sisters: Mary Lott of Chicago, Minnie McMillian, Daisy Anderson of AL., Catherine Jackson of Syracuse, NY., and Laurine Miles of Pittsburg, CA., three bonus children, Barbara Wiley, Mark Mills, and Roderick (Lori) Mills two grandchildren, Mychal (Tequila) Selby and Austin Selby four great-grandchildren, Jayson, Makayla, Noah, and Kenya along with a host of other family members and friends.
