Zelma Cunningham, 90, was born on August 24, 1932. She departed this life on May 24, 2023 at Englewood Nursing Home. She was a life-long resident of Monroe County and the daughter of the late Henry Ned and Catherine Crook Cunningham. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church #1 of Tunnel Springs until her health began to fail.
Zelma was a diligent worker; working for a time at Greer Elementary School. She also worked at Vanity Fair Sewing Plant, Monroe County Hospital and was a dietician at Englewood Nursing Home from which she retired. Zelma enjoyed cooking and was known for her cakes. She was also involved in various church activities.
Zelma is preceded in death by her parents: Henry Ned Cunningham and Catherine Crook Cunningham; son: Kenneth Johnson; daughter: Helen Johnson; brothers: Robert Cunningham, J. C. Cunningham, James Cunningham and Willie Cunningham; sister: Mattie Cunningham.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her son: William Johnson of Monroeville, AL; nephews: James H. (Elizabeth) Richardson of Florala, AL; J. C. Edward and Marcus (Brandy) Cunningham both of Burnt Corn, AL; nieces: Doris Moody, Columbus, GA, Sally Carter and Bonnie (Willie) Kyles both of Monroeville, AL; Cathy Everson, Eula Richardson, Druscilla Richardson, Barbara Richardson, Betty (Brantley) Parsley all of Mobile, AL, Sharon (Anthony) Thames of Burnt Corn, AL, Lucy Cunningham, Evergreen, AL and Marilyn Crosby, Pensacola, FL; a host of cousins and friends.
